Here is a copy of the IC84-3R Attachment published in February 2011. The list covers a small category of qualified donees which are organizations outside of Canada to which the Canadian government has made a gift to in the last couple of years. There are only a few organizations on the list and now “Education Africa” has been added to that list.

Be careful of tax preparers offering inflated charitable donation receipts. “The CRA reminds Canadians to not be fooled by tax preparers offering larger refunds than other preparers. While most preparers provide excellent service to tax filers, a few unscrupulous return preparers file false and fraudulent tax returns and ultimately defraud their clients. Remember that even if someone else prepares your tax return, you’re the one responsible for all the information on the return. If a tax preparer is offering you fraudulent tax preparation services, or if you want to report a tax cheater, you can do so anonymously by calling the CRA at 1-866-809-6841 (toll free).”

If so in the next 3 years after the new Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act comes into force will have to continue/transition to the new Act. A new Form T3010-1, Registered Charity Information Return, and amended Guide T4033-1, Completing the Registered Charity Information Return, are now available online at the CRA site. Charities with fiscal periods ending on or after March 4, 2010, that have not already filed, should use the new form. The form and guide were updated because of amendments to the Income Tax Act.
