The CNCA came into force in 2011. It is a really good corporate act that is being used by thousands of Canadian non-profits and charities. The Federal government is launching a consultation on the CNCA and our firm will probably provide them with some suggested improvements to what is a really good act. If you have suggestions let us know. Here below is the notice from Corporations Canada.
Consultation on the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act
The Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry launched a public consultation on the provisions and operations of the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act as part of a statutory review of the legislation.
The consultation’s goal is to gather Canadians’ views on whether the Act continues to meet its objectives of ensuring strong and flexible transparency, accountability and good governance standards.
The comments received will contribute to a report the Minister will introduce in Parliament in the fall of 2021.
How to get involved
You can comment on the consultation until July 30, 2021.
