A number of NGOs have tried to spotlight the famine in Eastern and Sub-Saharan Africa and CIDA has just committed further funds to the problem. CIDA released a press release entitled “Canada Responds to World Food Programme’s Appeal for Drought-Striken Countries in Sub-saharan Africa” at http://www.acdi-cida.gc.ca/acdi-cida/ACDI-CIDA.nsf/En/FRA-921113515-LAL?OpenDocument The Canadian government is committing $30 million to the World Food Programme to help those affected by the drought in Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia and Uganda.
