Here is an interesting workshop taught by Eric Plato on Financial Management.

Do you have problems developing budgets for proposals? Do you find financial reports and financial statements confusing? Are you responsible for managing the finances for a project but not sure what you are supposed to do? Are you unsure what risk management really means?  If you answered yes to any of these questions, this workshop is for you!

Through case studies and small group work participants in this two-day session will gain a better understanding of financial management and financial control. Particular areas of learning will include:

• Approaches to budgeting
• Budgeting for overhead costs
• Financial reports
• Financial monitoring
• Issues related to foreign currency
• Cash flow management
• Risk management
• Social accounting

This workshop will be facilitated by Eric Plato. A Certified Management Accountant with over 18 years experience in the non-for-profit sector, Eric enjoys training non-financial people in areas of financial management. For the past five years he has been working with social accounting researchers at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE/University of Toronto), and is a pioneer in applying social accounting concepts in the field. Eric served as Board Director and Treasurer of OCIC for six years and is Director of Finance and Administration at Frontier College.
