Statistics Canada reported, “While fewer Canadian tax filers made charitable donations in 2018, they were more generous than in 2017.” They noted that “Total donations claimed on tax returns rose 3.9% in 2018 to just under $10.0 billion. While this marks a second consecutive year of increase, the growth was smaller than in 2017 (+7.7%).”
I will not go on another rant about this type of data but if you really want to see a rant then check out what I wrote a few months ago under Stats Can releases information on charitable donations and it is as meaningless as always.
