Until now there has not yet been an update from CRA on whether there is any extension of the filing requirements for non-profit corporations including the T2 Corporation Income Tax Return, and for non-profit corporations and others, the T1044 Non-Profit Organization (NPO) Information Return. We heard a few minutes ago that there will be a delay for incorporated non-profits to file T2 and all NPOs that need to file T1044. Apparently CRA will be updating its website shortly. We will update the blog when there is further information.
The update may be on the CRA website here. Here is what it said when putting up this post. Income tax filing and payment dates_ CRA and COVID-19 – Canada.ca March 28, 2020 at 349PM
Many non-profit organizations are not even aware of the T2 and T1044 – now might be a good time to check whether you need to file one, both or none of these forms!
This does not apply to registered charities as they don’t have to file these forms – instead, they file the T3010 Registered Charity Information Return. CRA has announced that it has extended the T3010 Registered Charity Information Return filing deadline for all registered charities that were required to file from March 18, 2020. The extension will allow registered charities who have to file between March 18, 2020 till December 31, 2020 to only file by December 31, 2020.
