There are many risks associated with not-for-profits and charities carrying out activities abroad. One often overlooked but very significant risk is the financial risk associated with market changes and related currency exchange rate fluctuations. This presentation will discuss strategies that not-for-profit and charitable organizations can implement to reduce the costs associated with international development work. This discussion will include the following topics, among others:

How to reduce market risks;
How to negotiate better rates;
How to stay ahead of compliance regulations for money transfer;
How to work with informal banking systems; and
What financial products are available in the money transfer realm.

The webinar will be presented by Marc Racette. Marc Racette is a Senior Corporate Trader based in Toronto with Firma Foreign Exchange Corporation. Marc has travelled and worked around the world and has a passion for helping people think globally as his own career began with small organizations abroad. He has worked and lived in such places as the U.S., China and Mexico. He has had the pleasure of working alongside hundreds of organizations and individuals in Canada to help them grow their worlds by connecting them to international markets and organizations.

Cyber Security for Charities and NPO’s: Mitigating Risks and Protecting Data on Dec 12, 2019 12:00 PM EDT

Charities and Non-Profit Organizations have tremendous motivation to protect their digital data, however many do not take the proper steps to mitigate these risks. Historically Charities and NPO’s were not a main target of cyber criminals, but there has been a rash of attacks over the past few years focusing on them. This presentation will discuss some common methods that attackers utilize to gather information before launching an attack, why it is important for organizations to consider the security of their digital data, why organizations need to have a pre and post breach cyber plan, and the reputational risks of a cyber-breach.

This webinar will be presented by Ryan Duquette. Ryan Duquette focuses on litigation support, cyber incident response, privacy and technology risks, digital forensics and cyber fraud matters. Ryan has been an investigator for over twenty years and was previously a police officer focusing on cybercrime and fraud cases. Ryan works closely with clients involved in workplace investigations and civil litigation matters including intellectual property theft, HR investigation and data breaches.

He is a sessional lecturer at the University of Toronto teaching digital forensics, is a former director for the Toronto chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, has been qualified as an expert witness on numerous occasions, and is a frequent presenter at fraud, digital forensics, cybersecurity and investigative conferences worldwide.
